WoW Priest Guide
Overview:
Priests are healers that can also do a high amounts of damage. This class is very sought after since they are extremely useful as the main healers in raids. They can shield, heal and even resurrect their allies, while seeking vengeance from their enemies. They work best in groups since they are one of the casting classes that are only allowed to wear cloth armor. They can use daggers, one-handed maces, staves, and wands for weapons. Races that can be priests include blood elf, draenei, dwarf, human, night elf, troll, and undead.
Priests are very mana dependent, and can be difficult to play, especially in the early levels before they get all of their talents. However, if you stick with this character until the higher levels you end up with a lot of powers and plenty of invitations to join groups.

Special Abilities:
There are a number of special abilities available to a priest. These include healing, holy magic, shadow magic and a limited amount of crowd control ability. In terms of healing, priests have the most flexibility of any class and are the best healers in the game. They have the ability to do group heals, heals over time, single target heals, and even resurrections. Holy magic options include buffs, cures and dispels, and direct damage spells. Shadow magic can be used to cause a lot of damage through aggro control, damage over time, direct damage, mana drains and mind control spells. The overall versatility of a priest is what leads them to be some of the most sought after characters.
Talents: Discipline, Holy, and Shadow
Discipline Priest
The discipline priest works on getting his buffs stronger and conserving his mana. He is very good as a single target healer as well. This is the hardest talent tree to use for leveling up, so it might be a good idea to respec to this talent tree after leveling up. For those who like PvP this is the best option. Useful spells include power word:shield, reflective shield, divine fury, holy specialization, penance, divine aegis, inner fire, improved power word: fortitude, pain suppression, and power infusion.
Holy Priest
The holy priest works on getting stronger healing powers and increasing chances of survival. These priests work very well in large groups and raids since they are good at healing large number of allies with area of effect spells. Some of the useful holy spells include circle of healing, improved renew, improved healing, guardian spirit, divine providence, and spirit of redemption.
Shadow Priest
The shadow priest mainly causes as much damage as possible. This is the best option for those who want to play solo rather than joining groups, though there is a trade off in healing ability if you go this route. This is the easiest type of priest to level up and is by far the best priest leveling spec. Good talents in this tree include mind flay, spirit tap, shadow word: pain, vampiric embrace, silence, psychic scream, shadow form, vampiric touch, misery, dispersion, and mind sear.
